October 9, 6pm LWV-CC General Election Candidates Forum at Corpus Christi City Council Chambers, 1201 Leopard. Information on the Corpus Christi bond election will be included.

The LWV-CC Annual Meeting was held at Hester's Cafe & Coffee Bar on May 22, 2008. Members enjoyed hearing Nelda Martinez talk about Mary Rhodes; both the speaker and former mayor are/were active LWV-CC members.
LWV-CC was a co-sponsor of the YWCA "Institute for Public Leadership" held June 13 & 14. League members--Chris Garcia & Lois Huff-- presented on the topics of "Voter Contact" and "Advocacy," respectively.

Community Dialogue on Immigration

Thanks to everyone who participated in the JANUARY 19, 2008 Community Dialogue on Immigration. The LWVUS non-partisan study was framed around eight well-researched background papers entitled:

~Effects of Global Interdependence on Migration
~Immigration and the Economy
~Immigrants: Diversity and Inclusion
~Overview of Federal Immigration Policy and Proposed Reforms
~What Motivates Immigration to America?
~US Immigration Policy: Family Reunification
~Federal Immigration Policy: Enforcement issues.
