Thursday, December 15, 2011	10:00-1:00 pm	First Baptist Church Recreation Center	December 15 Membership Holiday Coffee. Our monthly meeting will be a change of pace from the past!! It will be held from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the First Baptist church recreation center located at 3115 Ocean Drive. There will be no charge for this meeting and your board of directors will provide light hors d'oeuvres and holiday cakes and cookies. This will be a "come and go" event and every member is expected to bring a prospective new member. Your board will visit with these new prospects by providing intermittent short presentations focused on the work of the League and future events and projects such as the "VOTE 18 Initiative". Support you local chapter by bringing a friend or colleague.
Monday, January 9, 2012	5-6:00 PM	LWV-CC Offices 3565 S. Alameda Room 305	Special Called Meeting regarding LWV-TX Position Statements. Chris Garcia will facilitate a meeting on Monday, January 9th, 5:00 PM at the LWV-CC offices at the corner of Alameda and Doddridge, Room #305 . Every two years, the LWV-Texas gives local leagues the opportunity to look at State League positions and become familiar with these positions and see if any changes in wording or expansion of local positions including new legal aspects, warrant additions or tweaking. This information will then be available at the annual state convention in April at which time a vote is taken on the State League positions. Our meeting will take about an hour of your time and we hope to see you there. Please RSVP Pam Maupin 949-8708 or pammaupin@sbcglobal.net if you plan to attend. The special session will be preceded by the monthly Board of Directors meeting at 4:00 pm which is always open to members.
Thursday, January 19, 2012	11:30-1:00pm	First Baptist Church Recreation Center	Monthly Membership Meeting and Lunch. January 19th is the date of our first meeting in the new year. Dr. William Burgin, Jr.,M. D., the Health Authority for Nueces County and the medical director of the City/County Public Health District will be our featured speaker and guest. He will give us information related to the "kick off" of our study "The Role of the Health Department in Public Safety". Dr. Burgin is a world renowned pulmonologist and a long-time resident of Corpus Christi.
Thursday, February 2, 2012	2:15pm	Calallen High School	VOTE 18 Senior Assembly. An assembly of government classes presented by the League in conjunction with our community partner, the Alunae chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. The the event will illustrate the importance of voting and the consequences of not voting. This is intended to impress the young voter with the single most vital activity of citizenship!!
Thursday, February 16, 2012	11:30-1:00pm	First Baptist Church Recreation Center 3115 Ocean Dr. Corpus Christi, TX	February Membership Luncheon. Election/Precinct changes and Vote 18 Project scheduled for February The League's February luncheon meeting is scheduled for Thursday the 16th and three current and important topics will be addressed. Our first speaker will be Diana Barrera, Nueces County Clerk in Charge of Elections who will discuss the latest election/precinct changes. Our next speakers will be Peggy Banales, Co-Chair of Vote 18 plus Bryan Bode and Alicia Benn, Committee members; they will address the Vote 18 Registration Project in the Corpus Christi area. The Board will then solicit the membership for suggested program topics; issues for further study and action. These topics will be reviewed at the March Board Meeting and the membership will vote their selections at the leagues' Annual Meeting in May. The meeting will be held at the First Baptist Church recreation center at 3115 Ocean Drive from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM. Lunch is $10 and you may choose a tuna salad sandwich with chips or a crispy chicken salad; desert and beverage are included. Please call the LWV answering service at 880-6501 by Tuesday, February 14th to reserve your menu choice and a place at the table....guests are always welcomed.
